Yes, I also had a vicious landlord who wanted to up the rent.
He even went so far as to lock the toilet, and further put in a complaint to the council, who fortunately took no notice. This guy had no morals, and leased the upstairs part of the property to a brothel.
I also moved to a new shop so evaded this greedy landlord.
I’m saddened to learn that the Hopetoun Tearooms will no longer reside in the Block
Arcade. I had morning tea there every working day from 1956 to 1962.😢😢😢
