The Building Surveyor who would not answer any questions and concealed documents.

In order for this firm and its director Mr. Gregory du Chateau to prevent me and my husband from asking any questions – an Intervention Order was applied against us in April 2021. An attempt to silence me, but not deterred.

The ‘Key Players’

The ‘key players’ that have been instrumental in the loss of the original Hopetoun Tea Rooms est, 1892 ™ are as follows:

  • The Block Arcade – the landlord
  • Allard Shelton – the landlord’s Managing agent
  • Lexon Group – landlord’s builder – for the expansion project Hopetoun Tea Rooms (2)
  • Tisher Liner FC Law – law firm representing FineTea Pty Ltd t/as Hopetoun Tea Rooms est. 1892 ™
  • SV Partners – Administrator / Liquidator appointed by FineTea Pty Ltd t/as Hopetoun Tea Rooms est. 1892 ™
  • Sinisgalli Foster – law firm representing FineTea Pty Ltd t/as Hopetoun Tea Rooms est. 1892 ™ during Administration / Liquidation

October 2014

  • Lovell Chen – Architects were appointed as the leading architect for the expansion project of shop 13 and Elizabeth street basement of the Block Arcade – (Hopetoun Tea Rooms (2)
  • 20th October 2014 – du Chateau Chun, was appointed as the Building Surveyor for the expansion project of Hopetoun Tea Rooms (2)

August 2016

  • 24th August 2016 – du Chateau Chun, was requested to attend onsite at the Hopetoun Tea Rooms (2) to inspect dispute of renovation conditions

  • 13th September 2016 – du Chateau Chun, Mr. Gregory du Chateau was requested by FineTea Pty Ltd t/as Hopetoun Tea Rooms est. 1892 ™ to attend the site of the Hopetoun Tea Rooms (2) and inspect the issues that were in dispute.

  • du Chateau Chun, was contacted many times, in relation to the Hopetoun Tea Rooms (2)
  • Mr. Gregory du Chateau refused to respond.

April 2021

  • 14th April 2021 – du Chateau Chun, director Mr. Gregory du Chateau issued my husband Kon Koutoumanos, with a Personal Safety Intervention order.
    • Mr. Gregory du Chateau – did not wish to answer our questions as to what went on, in the project for the Hopetoun Tea Rooms (2) expansion
    • Mr. Gregory du Chateau concealed documents from the court proceedings that I brought against the Block Arcade in VCAT.
  • In order to stop us from asking any questions, Mr. Gregory du Chateau issued an Intervention Order against my husband (after receiving advice from Mr. Grant Cohen) – see highlights in the Intervention Order

The Story about the original “Hopetoun Tea Rooms est. 1892 ™” which was located at the Block Arcade – 282 Collins Street Melbourne Victoria 3000, from 1892 till March 2020.

The Tea Rooms 1892 at the Block Arcade since December 2020 is now a ‘passing off’ business.

The Block Arcade, who own and operate the Tea Rooms 1892, are guilty of the tort misrepresenting the Original Hopetoun Tea Rooms est. 1892 ™ trademark and goodwill to all unsuspecting customers.

The original Hopetoun Tea Rooms est. 1892 ™ has been relocated to 421 Bourke Street, Melbourne – to its own building “The Hopetoun House” and is in the middle of a large scale renovation.
